My third Suby is my 09 Forester Premium. It has stock 17's with 225-55-17 street tires. I just picked up a set of stock 06 16 inch Impreza wheels. I wanna put larger tires on it for some extra ground clearance. I'm not too worried about width. what size would you all recomend? I was thinking 225-70-16's?? That should give me 2 more inches without incidentut I'll go more if possible.....I had a 95 Impreza sport that I put Forester rims on and that gave me a little more ride height without any problems. Just wondering what everyone thinks...I'm also wondering and looking for push bars, brush guards etc... Where'd you guys get all that sweet stuff???

G'day crazy joe & :welcome: to ORS.

Changing from 225-55-17's to 225-70-16's should be ok. Just check that they clear the spring seat & the guards at full lock & don't rub :iconwink: I'm fairly sure they will though.

Front bars are a little hard to come by (particularly in the U.S) unless you fab one up yourself or know someone can.

I would highly suggest getting some sort of sump guard or bash plate too.
For this I'd try Jackson Rally and Sumo Parts who are both supporting vendors here

Hate to sound like the Yank I am but a bash plate would be a front skid plate just under the bumper correct? If so, I'm about to order a set of front and rear aluminum ones off ebay. I know I can fabricate a front bar, I'm just getting a bit lazy in the cold...Oh that's right it's summer down under...Wanna trade?

Hi crazyjoe, welcome to ors.com.
Those tyres should fit fine  A sumpguard is a good idea as mr turbo said. Would be great to see a custom fabricated bar for a 3rd gen foz!
Yes its summer here, the east side of Aus got hail and storms yesterday while here on the west side its over 40c (100f) :raspberry:

If you find clearance to still be an issue once you add tyres you can always add liftkits to your Foz :iconwink:

Cheers
Taza

Yes that's correct :)

Well it's supposed to be summer here :rolleyessarcastic:
Normally I would change / trade places in a heart beat, but not this time :iconwink:
This year we've had a very mild summer (coolest start in over 50 years) which is just fine to me

If you have an auto, you will need a sump guard for it's sump as well. As for the weather, as mentioned elsewhere it has been quite a cool summer, but at times the humidity is still a bit much. Taza loves his 40 degree days- I think he has ice flowing through his veins because that would be the only way you could keep love those temps! :) I hibernate through the summer-cannot wait until it cools down again.

I run the subtle front skid plate ( made in USA) and just keep your 17's and get some yoko at/s with this setup you can go pretty far in the back roads.
You don't need a bull bar yet or anything just good tires and a lil protection for the oil pan.

I can't wait until you guys are freezing and I can poke at you!! It's 0 here, mind you thats not celcius!!!!! So when my band toured in Europe I had to learn British English, now I have to learn Aussie English;), I think that counts as me being tri-lingual! A sump would be my oil pan? I can't wait to confuse all my 4x4 buddies with my new terms! Thans for the help with tire size!! A lift kit would be very cool. I'll have to look into the cost. I'm sur it's not as easy as lifting my old Chevy!:yourock:

Wow, thats damn cold. If my calculation's are correct, that would make it about -18C
