Team,

My Gen 3 outback has central locking, is it at all possible to buy a plug in and play keyless entry kit (subaru type)

if so, where would i plug it into so it works straight away,

if not, where could i splice in a repco/autobarn type kit so it works with my current equipment fitted

thanks in advance

eddie

Are you saying you don't have a remote / keyless entry already? You should have I believe.

Yeah that's right, I bought the outback recently
and it only came the key, no remote for keyless.
I bought it from a car yard, and they didn't have
the keyless keyring to suit. How would I go about
getting one and codeifying it to suit my car

My key is like this:

It should be possible to get one from Subaru, but at $ome co$t.

Yes mine is the same too (MY05 Forry)

I'd by checking other places, like Ebay or the above link first, before I went to a Subaru Dealer. I don't know how much the dealers charge, but I know it won't be cheap thats for sure

Not sure of the actual sequence but there will be a series of things you do then its coded to your car. Hopefully someone here will know the sequence, if not, google?

i found a keyfob on ebay, it says that mine should be the alpine system, is this correct? anyone with a 1999-2002 outback, is this what your key fob looks like?

if not, what should it look like? also, is there a way to codify these fob's yourself? i have read about a sequencing system which aparently sets it up:

Program remotes: works on Alpine system.

Unlock all doors, foot on brake, all doors closed. Cycle key quickly but carefully on-off appr 10 times until the car honks one time.

Do not turn the key far enough to start the car, just to the 'on' position so the dashboard lights up.

When the horn honks, open and close the driver's door, press any remote button and that's it.

Program another remote? Quickly open and close the driver's door again and push a button on the 2nd remote. That's it.

When you're done, remove the key and the horn should honk 3 times. You're all set.

Sometime it takes more than 10 on-offs to set program mode. Open/close the door, lock/unlock etc, wait 10 minutes, then try again.
