Alrighty, well we're home, rested & now i'm back in the office. Luckily it's the week of Thanksgiving so the few things i took time out of my vacation to do have paid off, so this week i am free and clear! What a better time to do this than at work, right? :iconwink:
MANY PICTURES TO COME!
So we left at about 12:30am Saturday morning Nov 12 & arrived in Red River about 13hrs later after what turned out to be about 800 (1287 km).
A herd of Exotic game (looked like prong horns) that got out of their fence in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE New Mexico. This had to be one of the most isolated stretches of road i've ever been on & seemed to take forever to get through.
Spotted some wild turkey once we actually hit the perdy country in Cimarron, about 30 miles til Red River.
Cimarron Canyon, this was our first encounter with snow!
Getting to the next town closest to Red River, which is Eagles Nest. The snow was starting to get good!
We're we stayed & the welcoming committee.
And more were on the way... I was really surprised to see the ducks there still with all the ice and snow.
Since it was getting dark, we took a little drive down one of the short Forest Roads, this one was called Bitter Creek.
Found a real cool lodge / frozen lake at the end of it
After that, we were pretty tired. It got dark starting at about 3:30 when the sun dipped behind the mountains and was completely dark by 5:30 mountain time. I think we hit the sack at like 7 and did not wake up til 8 the next morning, haha.
