dash lights???

i have a 1997 impreza outback and the dash "back lights" do not work. all others work such as turn signals, "brake" light, "check engine" light and so on. when the switch on the column is turned, the parking lights and headlights work just no back lights on the dash. i tried turning the dimmer knob and still nothing. this is a pain at night. any ideas or info would be great. thanks in advance

It should be similar for your impreza and could just be the globes otherwise the wirring will be the cause.

thanks taza:biggrin: I will check this out and try replacing some bulbs. it seems like it would be something else considering that none of the back-light bulbs are working. i will give this a try. thanks for the info and the link.

Did you check the fuse, pretty unusual for about 8 globes to blow at once unless you had a power spike somehow and they are on a different circuit to the oil, ignition, park brake etc.
