hey guys!! i am new to the forum and the whole subaru thing. i just purchased a 97 impreza outback and was looking to do a small lift. someone told me to try 96-01 outback struts and springs and it should give me around 2 inches of lift??? anyone know if this is true. thanks in advance!!

Howdy and :welcome:97preza!!!

Check out Hondaslayers OBS his was lifted using '04 Forester springs and struts. It did end up blowing up the front diff., but I think that was a combination of things. He's not on the board much at all these days but he might respond if you post up in his thread.

so would this be just a simple swap of parts or are there any mods i should know about??? what do you guys think?? what would be the easiest/cheapest way for a small lift?

1" lift blocks on top of the struts and heavy duty springs should give you close to 2" on the cheap without having to do too much else like extending the hoses, steering link and hopefully your CV boots will last a little while, mine lasted about 40min lol.

Are you serious? Mine have been good for 5000km so far with 2.5" of lift. But the Foz is designed 50mm higher than the Impreza and Lib to begin with.

Mine had 195,XXX very hard K's on them before it was lifted, took it off road out the back of Kewdale for a short test when it was still on a permit & the fronts were both blown when we got back lol, the brand new nasty aftermarket Veal ? ones lasted about the same amount of time so I had the guys in Ozzy Pk fit some decent h/d rubbers and they have been fine since.

Yeah, I thought it would just be a matter of putting some Forester struts in my 94 WRX and off I'd go, oh how wrong I was, I've still got changes to make after many experiments but it's almost there. DCCD goes in when I get back to Aus then some 1" strut blocks in the front and that should be it .............. well until I find a rear locker.

I'm looking for something along the same lines;
I've got a 98 Impreza L with blown suspension. Looking for something from the subaru parts bin, hopefully lower than a Forester swap though.

Does the outback setup lift the same amount as a forester setup?
I'm also contemplating OBS or wrx suspension combined with lift spacers.
