I thought i would try to keep up to date with modern communications, if that is the way to say it, and just joined Facebook. Mainly did it to keep in touch with my kids during my upcoming trip.
Thought it my be fun to upload pics of my travels and keep a bit of a record of the trip.
My young bloke does a lot of snorkelling and spearfishing and might fly over to places like Ningaloo for example.
I have enough trouble working out how to upload photos to this site so i hope it is a bit easier on facebook.
Any tips would be welcome.
Had to laugh when i joined as it appears i have LOTS of new 'friends'!!!:lol::lol:

I use facebook every day. Have been on if for a few years now. I quite like it, but I am young. Its great for communicating with friends and family especially when they are far away. I also use the events, calenders and groups heaps with all my friends so we can meet up for partys or 4x4 trips or 18th's, etc...

One tip I will give though is just make sure you set your privacy settings to what your happy with so people can't keep a 'close eye' on you who are not your friends on there. Just remember fb is a public place and what you post on there is like posting it in a public place.

I'm pretty careful with internet stuff and will keep the security high once i learn what to do. I NEVER use my real birthday....i have an 'internet birthday' which is far removed from my real date and will keep the info limited.

Yeah the thing that pisses me off about book face is that you just get used to the way it all works then they change the settings such as the layout etc.

If you want to have a bit of fun change your language to pirate - it's pretty funny and you get used to what it all means after a while. I've had mine on this for several years now :D

Cheers

lol  im gonna try that!

Well so much for my facebook fling. I just deleted my a/c. Just couldn't be bothered with it. Already had about 30 emails and some new friends posting about stuff and simply can't be bothered.
Not for me i'm afraid.

Ha!!! My brother just sent me an email saying i would be on my own now!!!:poke:
I am open minded enough to see what is happening with facebook but i reckon a lot of people say stuff they would not have the b--lls to say to your face. A lot of drivel is written and i think SOME people work on a sense of immunity via facebook and say stupid stuff.
Anyway, i'm just an old fart, but i will stick to phone calls and email.:ebiggrin:.
PS....I am a happy old fart.

Atleast you use emails. I find them very useful, especially at work. Great communication and when it needs to be said to say a whole department or when your emailing people over east its better than the phone.

Isn't that the internet in general?

I know what you mean about people hiding behind facebook - but at the end of the day you've still got the chance of bumping into the person! And this also depends on your group of friends in general.

Bookface as we call it is a legal and legitimate way to stalk people on the internet! People are stupid enough to update where they are every 5 seconds these days too... Sad!

Remember this as it is very true. Anything you write on the internet is like engraving something in a diamond. It's there for good.
On FB, i've got my privacy settings set to about as strict as they can be. I don't even let people post crap on my wall (mostly because of people playing those dumba** games & then it being plastered on everyones wall).
