Got Stuck in Mud Today

Here's a quick video of what happened to me earlier today. We found some mud (FINALLY) as it has been raining off-and-on for the past two days. The normal area we bog in was flooded with about 2+ feet of water, so we will let that dry out a little, and decided to play around in the outskirts of the area. I saw this nice, slick mud, and an area to flip the car around so I wouldn't end up in the really deep stuff further down. Well, the place I thought was safe to flip around the car ended up not being as solid as I hoped for......and the car just sat down in it.

We had a Jeep Cherokee along with a HUGE Dodge Ram. Right after this, the Jeep managed to get good and stuck as well in the same deceptive stuff as me. Luckily, the Ram decided not to play around and get stuck as its job was to keep pulling us out. :biggrin:

That was stuck alright. I take it from the sound of the recovery truck, he was in the mud as well trying to pull you out.

He was sort of in mud, more so moist dirt underneath a dry top layer. It's an arroyo bed, so it's very sandy....and his truck is extremely heavy, so even just him getting around he was spinning up the tires, much less trying to pull my dead weight. The ground just sucks you in. My car was having a really hard time trying to spin up the tires because it was so sticky. NOT the type of mud I like. I like the wetter, splashier stuff. :biggrin:

I think that would have just made him stuck that much deeper!

What do your recovery points look like?

Recovery points look fine. That factory rear tow-hook can put up with a LOT. It didn't bend nor loose shape. And I've used it dozens of times to pull people out of ditches and what not. Even used it to pull 2 Toyota trucks for miles. Great little tow hook. lol.

I bet the grip on those tyres immediately after was absolultely rubbish, right? Mud in all its different forms can be mega decieving. Looks perfectly fine to go through and then your car sinks a couple inches into the earth....not good!
