*Yes I know that kind of magnet usually goes at the rear, but it looks like the door isn't magnetic enough to hold it securely...

Projects/plans

Current
- Getting all the info needed to have a bullbar done (and getting it done  )
- Arranging sleep area in the back (curtains, mattres, scrims, etc)

Short term (this summer)
- Wiring the two Hella 500s on the bullbar
- Wiring the 4 basket spots with quick detach wiring (so I can easily remove the basket)
- Strut lift (still have to decide what I get, 1in, 2in or anything in between) (Probably Primitive, I'm not sure I trust the local guy who did some and has no idea what "offset" is)
- LED upgrade for cabin lightning
- Skidplate & diffguard (Probably Primitive)

Mid term (hopefully before the end of the year)
- Fan cut-off switch
- (Maybe) Sway bar QD (I suck at doing/understanding that kind of stuff, but I'll eventually put the time I need!)

Long term (indefinite time frame)
- Finding out a solution to carry fuel and water jerricans
- Replacing windscreen (cracked due to the wiper defreezer)
- 2nd set of wheels with A/T tires

List updated July 2, 2012

I'm new to all that (first Subaru, and even first car!), so suggestions and tips welcome. I'll try not to cheap out, but at the same time, being a student with many hobbies, I'll be looking at more affordable options before going top of the line.

Cheers

Welcome Fly. Its also a good idea to post your location so we know where you are.

Thats a nice looking Forry you have there Fly :)

As taza said, filling in your location in your profile is also a great idea & don't forget the search button, it's also your friend :)

Thanks guys. Location and profile updated! As you can see mine will see more snow than desert, being in Canada, but there's still gonna be enough mud in the summer :D

@mr turbo: I'm a member on quite a couple forums, and it's tiring when people ask question that have been asked a milion times before... so you can be sure I'll try search first ;)

@taza: I had a look at your journal, and yours is pretty close to what I'm looking for! There's definitely going to be useful info in there.

That's a pretty fly foz you got there ;)
That green is one of my fav color combos that subaru has put out. If i ever had to repaint mine, that's what i'd paint it.

I wouldnt lift it.. Id leave it just where it is.... but maybe w some A/T tires it would balance out w the lift.

Yup, mudflaps are on their way (hopefully wednesday, as thurdsay I'm going to the mountains! :D) and I'm shopping for the roof basket :D

The lift won't be before a few months anyways, with the foglights, windshield, mudflaps and roof rack I have enough expenses for some time... but if I do it, it could be useful before the end of the winter. We sometimes get quite a lot of snow around here.

@dirtyRU: I was originally looking for a black one, but I kinda fell in love with it when I saw it... (the good price-value ratio kinda helped, too^^).

I mentioned those things because I have them!! haha if u wanna check mine out go to the journals section.

Are aftermarket mudflaps any better than what these come with? Honestly, i hate mudflaps, but like the stock ones simply because they flow with the vehicle. I'm just curious what the big deal is with the aftermarket ones vs stock.

I don't have any, but I think im going to make my own for the rear just to stop sh*t flicking all over the back of the car
I took the stock front and rears off due to them getting damaged, bent and cracked offroad.

Ahh, that's right. I forgot you ripped 'em off when wheeling! Didn't they take or crack part of the rear bumper cover? Now i see where some rubber ones would come in handy being more flexible. Have to admit they are nice when it comes to washing.

Yep, your spot on DirtyRU. The back bumper does still have a crack in it and keeps coming apart and catching on sand dunes when you fly up them.
Not too worried though.

I don't have any mud flaps either :raspberry:

Not sure what ever happened to the front one's :p but I'm guessing that they disappeared on a track or in a creek / river crossing somewhere along the line though

As for the rear ones, I've never got around to replacing them since I put the rear bar on :iconwink:
Might have to get some made up though I think :)

Don't make your mudflaps too long or you'll run the risk of running them over when reversing up an incline/step... Then you'll leave them behind if you don't hear them tearing themselves or the rest of the body trip off with them.

Nice looking foz fly!

Cheers

I've done this, yes it can happen. No real damage, but it did tweak my bumper a bit.

I'm getting them this week. They're produced by a local business, but they're pretty much identical to the Rally Armor ones.

I'll keep your tip in mind, thanks!

Mudflaps installed... should be getting the roof basket friday. Pics to come ASAP once it's installed!

I was debating betweend Hella 500 and 550... Besides the shape, any significant difference in performance? (If they're pretty much the same I had in mind two 550 driving on the roof basket, and two 500 fogs on a light bar... one I can score one)
