This is a good friend of mine who is actually "taking care" of his buddy's 2002 WRX Sti while he is overseas on duty. It wasn't born an STi though. The car had actually burned to the ground from the previous owner & he picked it up for $500, then rebuilt it from the ground up with all STi parts, right down to the seats, ordered from Japan. The engine is the 2.0, 3" exhaust - all the way down from the engine. Massive turbo that they have set at 30lbs of boost. We drove it around yesterday and had a blast. I couldn't believe how hard it would set you back in the seats! Anyway's just thought i would share some pics, enjoy. Hah! Just realized you could see our white trash neighbors grilling in the front yard!

Geez, with 30 pound of boost you'd want to have a spot on tune and good pistons and rods or it's all over red rover in a big way. What box, diffs and brakes does it run?
 
I will find out for you as i am pretty ignorant of it all. All i know is that when it hit, the damn steering wheel just about jumps out of your hands.

Impressive, yes. But while I know I am biased, I still prefer the earlier shape WRX for looks and A LOT LESS WEIGHT!
 
Haha carl, nothin about grillin in the front! You can't see it in the pic, but they had a little kiddy pool out front with their lawn chairs around it, sitting their drinking beer with their feet in it. But look at how greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen your yard is!

Green out front, but starting to get a little cooked in the back where there is more sun.:sad:
 
Gee- I thought we had it bad waiting until 1999 for the STI. Makes you wonder why they waited so long to release both the WRX and STI.
 
Well, whichever you would like to call it, it sure was a friggin beast! He just had it re-tuned about 2 or 3 weeks ago.. I saw the dyno print out and printed on it were the numbers 489... As in 489hp :cool:
Along with that, he said it's almost impossible to control. It just want's to rip the wheel out of your hands.
