Well I'm fairly similar to Eden but don't include sockets. I have one six sided impact socket that fits the wheel nuts and an older wheel lever cut and ground square to fit the socket - I think the OEM is too short if you get caught with wheel nuts put on by a gorilla in a tyre shop. I have jumper leads around the spare in the wheel well, and a 600 mm bushmans saw in there too. In the wheel bucket I have a towing rope and a couple of shackles for any on road recoveries. Under the front passengers seat I have the tyre repair kit and a compressor, and the first aid kit under the drivers seat.

If I'm going bush I'll put the equaliser strap, shackles and snatch strap under the drivers seat, together with a folding shovel. Some extra straps and small hand cable winch are in the footwell behind the drivers seat.

I have some spare wheel nuts in the garage - guess I should put them in the car

Cheers

Brian

Hi Eden,

If you can post images for tools. That will easy for us to identify what you are talking about esp for person like me who are absolutely new pie although have some time in car manufacturing. But I never to do mechanic for any car before.

Thanks in advance.

I also carry a battery jump starter in the car at all times. You never know as to when you might need it.

Does anyone carry a fire extinguisher?

I'm currently shopping around for one or two smallish ones. If you know any good ones please post.

^ most do! You can't get a fire engine out in the bush very easily (or quickly)!

I picked one up from BCF last week. Price I can't remember but I'm sure it was less than $30. Cheap insurance anyway.

Just include small metal plate for your jack particularly when youre doing sand driving....yeah dont forget lots of beeeeeeerrrr:bananatoast:

If you can get a Halon extinguisher one those are the best for a car. They leave no residue. I managed to get a small Amerex one (2.5lb) from the fire extinguisher guy that comes to work. He got me a very good deal. The bad thing is besides being a CFC it's not cheap. However, if you have ever had to clean up a dry chemical mess after the fact, it's worth it. Check e-bay they have good deals too.

I have a 1kg job in the car but now after doing a bit of reading , I`m not confident that it will put out an engine bay fire.

look at this poor Foz up in flames and note the white powder on the ground where an extinguisher was already used and failed

i usually carry massage oil, condoms and good lube... :monkeydance::lildevil:

a puncture repair kit is a must along with an air compressor.

Halon fire extinguishers

Is it still possible to obtain Halon fire extinguishers? Are they still lawful.

(Prefer not to use BCF, as don't fancy cleaning up the mess!)
