New Subaru- a mini Forester

Looks like a cross between a pontiac vibe & a mazda cx-9. This to me looks like the outback sport/impreza with a diff body.

Looks cool indeed! Glad it doesnt sport another shade of grey or some other drab body colour...

Well... I'll take one in any color other than dog-piss-yellow.

Seriously. Looks very dynamic to me. Tons more exciting than any of the Outback Sport (aka Impreza with contrasting paint) variations over the years.

MY11 WRX looks pretty good. And the STI too obviously. But they've ruined the Liberty. Having seen photos of the MY12 Impreza, I am not at all hopeful, even if the interior looks pretty good

Something I've been wanting to ask for a long time on here.. What does the "MY" before the year of your subaru mean for you guys down under?

Nope, crap. It won't be anything than a streeter or a dirt road goer - and a graded one at that!

I saw a new liberty when in Melbourne the other day - it looks like a downsized tarago of a few years ago with poky little wheels. Not cool.

I'm of the opinion that subaru has lost its touch with the subaru enthusiasts - they no longer produce that sexy little pocket rocket that's fun to drive.

I doubt that SUV concept even has a dual range gearbox...

Cheers

Bennie

The WRX and STI will not be released here with the rest of the Impreza range, and will remain in production for a further 12 months. When the versions of these cars are released, they will apparently look sigificantly different than the main Impreza range. Given how ugly the new Impreza, and how good the current WRX and STI look, this is probably a good thing. As for the Forester, that remains to be seen. Personally I don't car about how many the gears the auto has, but 4 is obviously not enough. I have never driven a CVT, but I doubt I'd like it. I cannot see them developing a D/R 6 speed, so I can only hope the D/R 5 speed continues. The company still seems to lack direction, and their insistence on designing ugly cars continues for reasons best known to themselves. I never thought I'd say it but even Kia is making cars that look half decent.

It's funny. The Japanese Subaru is trying to look more Korean, the Koreans like Kia are looking more European, the Europeans like Mercedes are looking more American, and the American cars with the odd exception (Comaro, Mustang, etc) are not something you'd think others would want to look like. The British seem to be on the right track with Jaguar and Aston Martin, and Australia's Holden, HSV and FPV are good as well. Oh, well, who am I to be an expert I suppose, so I'll just go and get in my 12 year old Impreza and kid myself I have any idea about these things

That's good thinkin Rally. Anyone that likes performance will NOT like a CVT. That is the reason they put them on a Prius. Not only are they weak, but extremely costly to repair. I drove a 2004 Saturn Ion2 for about a year. Tranny went @ 80k & then again @ 91k. I had an attorney get involved to get them to pay for their so called "$7000"transmission problem fixed. Most of them have sealed cases & you can't even check the levels yourself. The Nissan Murano had many probs with their CVTs as well.
