Something a bit different- see if anyone is interested I guess. Can anyone name what happened where this photograph was taken? I can tell you it happened a very long time ago, and it was extremely significant in world history.

hmmm knowing you Tony and a day away from ANZAC day i'm guessing something to do with WW1 possibly WW2? is it in Europe, France maybe?

Oh, nothing to do with ANZAC Day. Well, it is far closer to France than it is to here, and it is part of the EC. Some irony in that you mentioned France though.

I'm guessing it is somewhere around Anzac Cove or Lone Pine in Gallipoli where way too many lives were lost on that fatefull day in 1915 during WW1

This event was a long time before the First World War and had nothing to do with Australia or New Zealand

It is so well known that it is hard to give a clue that will not give a way the answer. I consider it the most significant battle in world history. It is certainly one of the most well known

Horses were used in this battle, but it pre-dates gun powder

Getting there.
You're not of Scottish ancestry are you Eden?

Well, Celtic will cover it!

Yes, that's it. The Battle of Hastings was not fought at Hastings! You need to drive a few k's north to the town of Battle. You know, during the Second World War, the Poms were so worried about a German invasion they removed all street and town signs and so on, so the Germans would be lost and not know where to go. Seventy years on, you'd think the Poms would put them back up again because there is no signage at all in Hastings and unless you really look hard none at Battle either. Well done Eden!
