In case anyone is interested, I took this photo of my old flywheel which is of a dual mass design. This is the side facing the engine- so it is obviously different from a normal flywheel. Good riddance!

Thanks for taking the time to take and post a picture, Rally! Always learn or see something new here...

Thanks for the pic Tony.

I never saw my original dual mass flywheel, although I have the rest of the original clutch components, including the broken pressure plate

What component actually failed in yours? Also, did you go for genuine replacement?

Simon- could not find what actually failed, but did not spend too much time looking before I threw it out. The replacement was Exedy clutch kit which included standard flywheel. I do not know who made the flywheel, but assume Exedy must have it made for them and include it in their kit.

Eden- Yes- it is out of the Forrie. Buggered if I can tell the difference.

Hi Simon.

Are you sure your clutch was original? It certainly looks quite different to the one in my Forrie and both the 5 speed and 6 speed clutches in my WRX. With my car being 2nd hand I cannot say for sure mine was the original clutch, but it certainly appeared as though the gearbox had not previously been removed. The only issue I have with the clutch is sometimes it has a small shudder- although this seems to have gone away now. The clutch does feel lighter than previously. Who knows? Maybe you got a bad one or I got a good one. All up it cost me (including gearbox oil) about $700- although I did the labour.
