Went out for a little wheelin' trip with my buddy, mr zee, from the yotatech forum. We did a little trail actually known as Hurricane Creek Rd. (street sign even), odd thing about this road, it's a turn directly off the interstate, no exit ramp just a gravel road off of the shoulder. Doesn't stay gravel for too long, quickly turns into a rocky, root strewn trail with lots of stream crossings and mud holes.:bcool: Unfortunate things, I got a bunch of pictures of mr zee's ride and none of mine, then my camera crapped out before the best part of the trail. mr zee should be able to fill in with some pics as soon as he gets back from his long weekend away from home.:) I've done this trail twice now, both times from the high side of the mountain, this time we started at the bottom and went up, talk about changing the dynamics of a trail, much more challenging this time.

mr zee 'took me to school' on what it means to have proper tires and small handy items such as a rear diff lock. After several attempts, I finally made it up this hill (30deg. incline), my wheels were just hopping on a rock out cropping in the middle.

One of many stream crossings.

mr zee playing around, only problem was the departure angle he had with his hitch.

Deeper than it looks, watch that right front tire...

Another spot where I had difficulties that tires and diff lock made look easy.

As usual pics do the terrain no justice, I really don't think even a lifted Subie could climb this trail, but I'd love someone to prove me wrong. It's the places like this that made me cross over to the dark side, and I think I've even now pushed the limits of my stock YotaRu. More pics to come when I can swipe some from mr zee (and his son, very cool kid) who took a lot of the pics.

Nice Trail, so many beautiful places you just don't get to see without a 4WD. How long was the road/trail?

This trail is about 10mi. (16km), keeps you busy for the better part of a day. It is truly out in the middle of nowhere so you rarely see anyone which makes it very nice.

And now a few more pics, big thanks to my buddy mr zee and his son Jared.:)

Open diffs , wheel almost off the ground spinning freely, the one planted firmly on the rock not doing anything.

Y'all never see me, so here I am poking my head out of the sun roof.

Some lucky cows live here, I've come across a lot of fantastic views in these mountains, but this is the best!!!
