Yes, there is now an 'Americanized' version, which I guess is good, but really not all that great. Anyhoo, we have become a household of BBC Top Gear junkies. Even the wife and kids, you don't have to be a 'car' person to love this show, it's just awesome!!!...

...so, I'm kind of posting this for a response from elsewhere, and to let you know why I feel a good 'ol Yota is the next best thing to a Subie.:iconwink:

BBC Top Gear Watch It!!!:discomonkey:

I've been a fan for years. They brought out an Aussie version a few years back, and while it has slowly improved, is not a patch on the Pommy version. Mind you, did you see the show they did when they went to the US? Jeremy is very pro England, loves sticking it to the Americans and obviously the Aussies too but he does it so well you just have to laugh. And yes, the old toy motor is a tough little ute- couldn't kill it with an axe.

Yeah, the american version isn't near as good as the UK, but still cool to watch. You've got it right on that Rally, don't know if there's anyone on tv more pro england than him!

I thought they were going to get killed when they had the anti- red neck slogans painted on the cars in the south!

You're not wrong, especially when they were filling up at the petrol (gas) station & those guys in the pick up truck arrived. :bananagunner: :catfight: :bananagunner:

Regards
Mr Turbo

I think that is part of the magic of the show, and while only part of that is acting, I'm quite happy for him to be like that. in fact, I wouldn't want it any other way. I'll always have a soft spot for the poms- and nobody does humour as good as them I reckon anyway. Even if we are at the receiving end of it.

I love the show. Have been watching it for a few years now :rotfl: I have every episode on one of my hard drives. Love it. Seen them all many times.
Love this one, even though I wouldnt call that offroading. lol

I know that they stage an awful lot of stuff, but I don't think they staged that one. One thing that makes the BBC version sooo funny is Jeremy poking fun at America, I've never been offended by anything he's said, he largely speaks the truth. There is a more recent one where they come to the states and test a Cadillac CTS, Chevy Corvette Z06, and a Dodge Charger that is absolutely hilarious.:rotfl:

The Forester one is awesome taza, pretty sure I've seen it before but along time ago. Wish they would feature Subaru's more often.

Another fave...

Another slightly staged one was when they tested the STI against the EVo. Jeremy bagged the STI, only for it to be quicker than the Evo. I'd like them to come to here and test some of our local stuff. They like the Holdens we export there, but I'd like to see them compare say the turbocharged 6 cylinder Falcon or the new supercharged V8 Falcon with the Holdens. The outcome doesn't really matter, I reckon it would be good entertainment.

The video ends before the track times.

I got turned on to Top Gear many years ago by friends in the UK. Fortunately the internet helped fill much of the void until we were blessed with BBC-America. My 2 favorite episodes were the Toyota Hilux and the time they went caravaning and set the caravan on fire in the end. The chemistry on the show is truly what makes it so good.

Now the American version, well it's the chemistry that kills the show. It feels like it's all staged and poorly rehearsed. Both versions are written like a joke. Both shows feed you the setup line, and with the BBC version there's always a good punch line to end it. Wish I could say the same about the American version.:raspberry:

Caught this one last night.
