Are there any of us that are interested in getting a team together on Australia Day to go up northern Victoria to help with the flood situation?

What could be more patriotic than those of who can help, helping those who need it?

I am willing to try to find out where and what is needed / can be done, although any other help would be appreciated.

Peoples thoughts...

Sounds good, if you can find out the info I'm up for it. ... As John Kennedy* said ... "Just DO something!" Good advice to those of us not impacted.

(* For US members, not JFK, but coach of an Ausie Rules football team - quote from his speech at the last change in a Grand Final. :iconwink:)

Beigewagon,

Anything further on this? Even if there are ony a couple of us we can prob still be of some use somewhere.

Barry,

I have been emailed some links, but most areas are still coming to grips with what help they need. Not much more can be done until water levels subside.

I may not be much use now, as I am off work since yesterday with a back injury, but can still try to find areas that need help and co-ordinate a gorup of us.

No good about your hammer & tack.

If you are up to co-ordinating a group that would be good, alternatively pm me some of those contacts if you like and I'll have a go at finding something to do. places at the southern end of the Loddon River (closest to Melbourne) might be at the stage of needing a hand.

i snipped this from the LROCV forum (Land Rovers Owners Club of Victoria) might be helpful - maybe tag along with a 4WD club.

Hello all,

We have been contacted by the Pyrenees Shire asking for assistance in cleaning up properties in the Avoca area.
They are in desperate need of help from this weekend through next week if at all possible.

Please contact us at the office and we shall co-ordinate proceedings.

All,

Due to the overwhelming support that the various areas are receiving to support flood areas, the various local contacts are so busy that the responses have been along the lines of, Show up and someone will point you in the direction of need.

If you are willing and able to help, I would suggest that you pick a town / locality on the map that has been shown on TV, or nearby town, and head for the general store / town hall, or the likes.

Sorry I cant give any definite answers, but I can only pass on the info I receive, and at this point I am not able to help due to the medication I am on.
