Hi all, well im wanting a new exhaust for my MY02 Forester N/A. So far it has an aftermarket one which was on her when I bought her. It is similar to the stock one but I want something abit louder. I no completely nothing about exhausts, well what aftermarket ones are available or anyhting about them. I just want to hear that boxer engine rumble abit when accelerating hard. I dont want anything too loud like a WRX or anything, just a good deep rumble if you know what I mean.

This is roughly what my exhaust sounds like from a clip I found on youtube. Mine is abit louder but you can here the egine when reving high more than the exhaust.

Im looking for something similar to this I think. Except I dont want the end/tip or what ever its called to be that big. 2.5" or less, I dont want it standing out too much. As I said I know nothing about exhausts.

I would like to here what people have done and what they sound like if possible. Also how much would I be looking at paying, what $300-400Au range roughly? I just love the sound of a Subaru Boxer rumble under hard accerating. I want it to sound like a Subaru not something else. Or is there a way to here that boxer rumble without needing a new exhaust system or parts or what ever. The headers or something? I dont know.......

Thanks

Don't go any bigger than 2 1/4" on an n/a (you need the back pressure) and you can buy just a diff back straight through muffler that will give you a very similar rumble to the WRX.

Ever thought that your exhaust sounds louder outside the cab when moving? Venom had no idea how loud his liberty was until we swapped subi's for a couple of k's. I found out that mine is literally QUIET in comparison!

Maybe get a trusted mate to blart past you under different throttle positions so you get an idea of what it sounds like from a pedestrian's point of view. This is the way I think of exhaust notes - you want others on the street to enjoy it for the brief time that it takes you to cruise past them as well as your own enjoyment while driving it without being a cop magnet!

I've got a 2 and a 1/4 inch cat back system on Ruby Scoo and it sounds good, some refined mufflers would probably give a "cleaner" WRX subi sound as mine's a little rough when compared to some other exhaust note's I've heard this year on some NA EJ's ;)

Hope this gives you some ideas.

not sure for your model foz but you may need unequal length headers to give that distinctive boxer rumble. otherwise you will sound just like any 4 banger with a bigger muffler.
