06 baja non turbo 5 speed manual. 40k miles overall very reliable.

Ok this problem started out last year.

When it gets COLD like sub 30s ( or 0C for you non US guys) my Baja wont turn over. I checked the electrical all seamed Ok. I bought a new battery just for the hell of it 650 CCA. I even took it to the dealership and it specd out fine they could not find a problem. Summer comes around and since april of last year not a single problem, the car runs and starts fine. Well the weather gets cold and BAM damn thing wont turn over. I check the battery and it seems fine and the alternator is charging. I swap the starter and test the original fuji one and both are fine.

So it was supposed to get cold last night and I want to test out to see what goes on. I pull the baja and my wifes toyota outside of the garage and the temp goes to 29 degrees.

Sure enough the Subaru wont turn over. But the Yaris has no trouble.

Do you guys have any ideas? Just like before I know when I get home and it has warmed up the damn thing will turn over just like normal.

Any help is welcome.
Go easy Im a noob to working on cars.
thanks

Check all the grounds under the hood. There could be some corrosion and the cold drops the battery voltage enough that the voltage drop across the grounds prevent the engine from turning over.

I have even popped the starter out and checked it all. cleaned all connections and it still persists. I was advised to replace the coolant temp sensor since it is only $14 I am going to do this too. Man this is getting annoying.

The grounds I'm talking about are the ones to the chassis, frame, and engine block.

What weight oil are you running in the Subaru and Toyota?
