Perhaps next week they will do the bench front seat, 3 on the tree and four wheel drum brake conversion?
Well said. It's a subjective thing, no one is right or wrong and if you like it go for it.
It's a subjective thing, no one is right or wrong and if you like it go for it. To me, I saw a very nice car in good condition going in and something less than that coming out. I said the same thing to a mate when he put a monster engine in his WRX and then converted it to RWD. His car, his money, he liked it- that is all that matters. Same with everyone, including you and me. If you like it, you don't need to explain it and you certainly don't need to justify it. Just do it!![]()

- He's spot on, it's his car, his money, therefore, his decision. It's a subjective thing, no one is right or wrong and if you like it go for it.
As per my sig., I'm a Beetle nut. Don't know about the US, but over here there was a 'thing' for chopping the roof of them a few years ago, to make fake 'convertibles'.
The genuine Karman 'Cabriolet' and (extremely rare ... drool ...) Hebmuller 'Coupe' style convertible beetle were among the best soft tops ever built. Heated glass rear windows, retracting side windows and roofs that didn't baloon at highway speed. (Better even than a Rolls Royce in that last respect.) However, except for a couple of very expensive kits, the 'chop tops' were, almost without exception, cr@p. Only a handful didn't quickly find their way into metal crushers.
The trouble with fads is that they destroy a limited number of cars which are no longer in production! There is a finite number of off roadable Outbacks - Gen 1 - 4. Lets just hope that fads like this don't take hold, or they will quickly become as rare as old Beetles...
OK, I'll also admit to being a grumpy old fart!
