just wanted to start this to see.
i have a 1998 leg outback with 0 mods:sadbanana:as of yet, i drive 72miles round trip each day fairly flat in trafic if i drive like a:twisted::lildevil:i get 21 mpg if i drive like grandma :biggrin:iget 25.

well ever since this whole vac problem my mpg has gone down more than i would have liked. im only gettin about 15 if im runnin her 18 if im basicly coastin.

in 54 000 klms my trip meter states an average use of 9.2 liters per 100 klms , if anyone can convert that to mpg ( i tried but it made my head hurt ) id be interested to know??

any mathematicians out there ????????

It works out at about 25.5 MPG :)

I would average from about 9 litres per 100km's upto about 13 litres per 100km's (26.1 mpg - 18 mpg)
It just depends on how hard I drive it

Gee, you blokes must be towing a large bridge behind you if you are getting low 20's. I normally get mid to high 20's running 95 RON petrol, less for 91 and who knows what with E10 but i'd need a bigger tank for sure.

That's American gallons and mpg.

How do you know what mpg you are getting if the car runs km's and you buy fuel in L? Why would you bother to convert to mpg? It's pretty meaningless to us Aussies now - even for old farts like me. :iconwink:

I was brought up on mpg and that is all I know. I get the km's, divide by litres and multply by 2.83. But you're right, the American gallons are different to everyone else's, so maybe the figures are are not comparable. Maybe I'm older or more of a fart- maybe both? :)

Well I average this depending on how I drive. Offroading I dont know how much I would use but it would probably be about 12-15L per 100km.

Highway 28-33MPG 8.4-7.13L/100km

City 23-26MPG 10.3-8.7L/100km

I find that the calculation on the car 'multi gauge' bears little or no resemblance to reality. Car reads about 8.4 l/100km, but filling indicates more like 9l +/-.

Entered fuel and odo readings for 4600km into Fuely today. Came out spot on 9.0l/100km, just like I said.

Using Shell E10, 95RON. Will go back to 91 RON 100% petrol at the next service.

In excess of 80% is off-peak, so would be disappointed if consumtion was any higher!

I measure fuel consumption, height, pressure and waist size (no, I don't know why either) using imperial measurements- just about everything else in metric. Some I can do both, but it's like a first language- one just comes naturally to you. It's a pain the US gallons makes comparisons more complicated, but it would seem that the lower fuel consumption quoted by our friends in the US is simply a case of the US gallon being smaller than a normal gallon. End result is that the actual consumption is probably quite similar.

Rally, I know why I do that ... it is a function of being born just before the Melbourne Olympics!
Same here, but a lot depends on the work you have done or do and how much it involves using measurement or teaching it. I forced myself to change my mindset back in the late 70's.

Aw hell,
the best I get is 10l/100km on the highway...
and never better than 13l around town, bloody awful stop-start gridlock traffic on the drive home every day after work tho.
98 octane fuel in the tank - takes the shine off owning the vehicle a bit.
$$$$$ :madred:

aaaa dont feal bad i blew this last tank i only got 13.5 miles per gallen  iguse thats what happens when u play pole potion on the freway
