Security Alarms

G'day lads,

Well after having the car broken into again by some of the local ghetto smurfs, I think now is the time to get an electronic security alarm installed. Problem is I know less about this sort of thing than I do about how our local police aren't working to stop this stuff happening.

Anyways, as per usual I was hoping someone with either experience in this area or perhaps can recommend a good system/installer/price range etc that might help me out on this one...

Only systems I know of personally are quiktrak and Brant. Quiktrak is a tracking company and in your part of the world uses the mobile phone network I would think- but check. A mate with an Evo 9 Lancer said the system Mitsubishi uses on these cars is really good- but you'd have to ask a Mitsubishi dealer what system it is. I understand they are installed in Oz so should be available locally (ish)

I did something a little different here in the states. No one listens to a car alarm scream when it is outside the car, theives do not care....

however,

Mount the "siren" inside the car. No one in thier right mind will keep thier head in the car with it screaming. In the car it is 10 times louder then under the hood.

Yes, I have both an inside and an outside one. Didn't plan for the outside one, it came as part of the package when I upgraded the system

I suppose I am more after something that will wake me up so I can get these little b@#$ards in the act. If it is loud enough I would be happy. However I don't want something that goes off evertime a bird craps on it or the breeze gets strong....
