I've given up with the extravagant dreams for a WRX eating L series and have decided to keep it simple, (yeah, we'll see how long THAT lasts...).
All I am really after now is a LSD rear end and maybe a dual range 5 speed AWD box (Forester? Gee, if I do that I might as well go EJ20, :iconwink:. Damn there I go again!).
I have found a viscous LSD from a Liberty at a wreckers and he claims it will simply bolt up into the L series.
Is this correct? I thought the mounts or splines would be different but he reckons it would be fine. This is for a diff only, no shafts or CVs.
Also he's asking $500 for it, does this sound fair?
Thanks for all your patience with a slightly over-eager new sooby fan! I'm slowly working it out.
Cheers,
Tim.

I thought Liberty's had open centre rear diffs?

Hi Dodge
The diff will fit an l-series but you have to have the right ratio look on the rear of the diff

$500 is a bit on the upper side

Great help again

Thanks for the info,
hope I'm not driving people nuts with all the questions.
Cheers all!

If it's the same rear VLSD as fitted to Foresters I would not bother anyway. As an LSD they are pretty useless in my (and most other peoples') experience.

WRX's came out with different diff ratios, the earlier ones of little use to many cars because of the gearing. MY94-MY01WRX came out with 3.54:1.

the price is a bit steep...
I wouldnt spend on it less than $250.
Liberty didnt have LSD unless its GT Legacy.
These R160 will fit in your L series but you'll have to change the flange.
Cheers
