My Forrie's and "roads"

Houston, Texas (but I'm not there much).
As a lot of you know the Forrie is a work vehicle for me (I work on land-rigs, I am an Oilfield Geologist).

I am working very close to the first location I worked up here (Zwolle, Louisiana).

I drive about 4 miles each way on "roads" (logging roads that are heavily traveled by big trucks).

At the first location I had a 2007 Forrie XT Limited, AT with street tires and it could hold an average of about 30MPH going to and from the Wellsite, one day I was "playing Rally Driver" in the Rain and I found the point of "no grip", I spun off the "road" and into a field but there was no damage and I did not get stuck.

Now I have a 2009 Forrie X Premium, AT with a lift kit and offroad tires, It rained HARD last night and leaving this morning was FUN! she was bouncing around nicely but I never got out of control (I maintained almost 40MPH in the pouring Rain).

I pulled in to the Motel this morning with Mud all over the car, I think it looks best that way!

To make a long story short (TOO LATE!) I love my Subie, it is not a "proper" Oilfield vehicle in the eyes of the Rednecks that I work with but I do not care and neither does the Subie!

BTW: I added a link to this place on my Facebook page.

This is an awesome story!!! Do you think the traction control is making a difference on the new Subie???

This Forrie seems to have better "mud manners" than the 2007 but I thought the tires (Geolandar AT/S) were the big difference.

I will admit that the 2009 had to "grow on me" as it is less "wagon-like" and more "SUV-like" than the 2007 but I quickly have grown to like it with two exeptions, the detent that is supposed to hold the doors open SUCKS HORRIBLY! I get hit with the drivers door AT LEAST once a day. And I must use the handbrake or I hit the lever with my Knee EVERY TIME I get in the car (if the lever is down).

Great Story Unclviny Do you have photos of the places you work in with your forrie.

The "Big Oil" company that I contract to is VERY strict about photo's so no.
The newest deal is if you are found on the Rig with a Cellphone, you are fired immediately (most phones have Camera's now), phones must be left in your car and must be turned off.

I had to get an exception because I have a Unit-phone in my office which is on the Rig, according to the "Big Wheels" the phone can not leave my office and must be kept put away so the rest of the crew does not see it.

I swear they have a separate division that just makes up rules all day!

Wow, it does sound pretty locked-down, but probably not unusually so for that industry and utilities.

At least you get to do some interesting driving for work, in a Subie no less. Of that I am jealous!
