12813242424422 Repco
150psi. 40L/min air flow, battery clamps for direct connection, thermal overload protection, storage bag & three inflation adaptors included. (AC150PSI).

how reliable are they for occasional use?
good or bad quality?

Used to work at Repco, and I saw lots of those ones come back. Steer clear.

Projecta compressors are good quality, and cheaper than the ones you get from hardcore 4wd shops.

Dane.

ok thanks
What is the warranty on the projectas?
they don't mention on the website
I am also looking at the Bushranger range, they come with a 5 year warranty

If you want to spend the dollars get a Viair based pump. My Bushranger is rebadged Viair and, yes, 5 year warranty and all replacements parts are available. I returned 2 Supercheap type pumps within months of purchase due to faults (I think they were Projecta).

Supercheap's brand is SCA and they are supercr@p
That Repco one is GearUp not projecta

They probably were SCA - yes, SuperCrap!

AutoOne has the Projecta Typhoon for $159 in their current catalogue
I think it's time to buy!

called up a Repco to check and he said that all of these units have been recalled due to a fault! so I don't think it is the same as the Projecta. does your Typhoon have a red on/off switch Barry?

FWIW, back in the compressor comparison of one of the mags I had they had a couple of compressors that looked identical apart from badging. They took them apart and found while they looked identical, there were big differences in the internals. Don't recall if the Repco was one of them but IMO, for an extra $10 go with the proven Typhoon.

I actually have a Super Cheap Auto one. Was $60, and I use it for the car tyres once a week, and the tyres on my bike. I haven't found it to be too bad, but then again I wouldn't use it anywhere near as much as some of you guys would. I'll keep an eye on this thread when I do go to replace it.

Funnily enough, one night I was checking the tyres on the Accord and the pump stopped. Did everything possible to check and still didn't work. Went and got the the keys to the MY05, and plugged it in. It worked perfectly. Turns out the 12v charger in the Accord packed it in. Just another thing to add to the list of faults of that POS (and no, I don't mean Point of Sale ) (and for those reading, never, ever buy a Honda!)

Excuse my tangent there...

There's a couple of places on ebay selling brand new projecta typhoons for $155 inc shipping anywhere in Aust. I think I might take the gamble and go for that...

I emailed one of them which offers 2 yr warranty but the ad says its 400W while Projecta claims it is 600W. This is his reply

Hi ,Firstly ours are the genuine real Projecta Typhoon model TYP150, i measured the amperage draw to convert it to watts and our meters show 30 amps, 7.5 amps = 100w , hence 400w, i have read he fine print on the box and the MAXIMUN draw is 45 amps , hence it can be interperated as 600w.Not the way i would generally rate a compressor but looks like we can get away with 600w as per Projecta's description. Thanks Peter

That's interesting. But I've already bit the bullet.
I went with the other company that was selling (identical package & price) because that was getting shipped out of RAdelaide, and presumably would get here faster.
Will post results once it arrives and I get a chance to use it!
