This should be an easy one,
I have an '89 L-Series for parts with a Dual Range 5-speed.
I've never driven one and the high/lo selector seems to have 3 positions, is this fwd, lo and hi?
Or just hi/lo and I'm imagining the 3rd position?

(Feeling silly now...)

Thanks for responses + answer to my next question!

Thanks for your help,
The L series I have has RX AWD and is great on the road, I was kinda hoping for AWD D/R but I guess that isn't possible? I really am not keen on fwd at all.
Also I am sure I read that I could use the centre diff lock on my AWD 5 speed on the dual range box, is this correct?
Pretty sure I will have traction issues with an EA82T and fwd, any thoughts? (I'm loving the AWD setup I already have, would just like more offroading ability).
Cheers again,
Tim.

I must be honest, in my ignorance I thought the D/R boxes were AWD with dual range!
Live and learn I guess...
They really should have released an AWD Dual range box with centre diff lock I reckon, but I'm no engineer, I'm sure they would have been the best option tho. Know I'd love one!

Great to hear!

That is the best news I've had for a while!
I'm sure that they are rare as hens teeth, but I'll be searching pretty hard to find one now.
Thanks for the heads up, I'm slowly learning...
(or should that be a slow learner?)
Cheers.

Good Luck mate... It would be a good find... Only problem is, I think these gearboxes has 1.19:1 low range instead of 1.59:1 but again you can convert it. Cheers AP

Correct about the low range AP.

Good luck finding one - it took me a good 3 years to find mine, then I paid a bit much for it but I know its potential so shelled out for it anyway...

Also, there's a neutral position between Hi and Lo range ;)

Cheers

Bennie
