I went camping with some friends this past weekend, at Jones Pass. Lisa stayed home, it was just me, my RS, and some friends. It was freakin awesome!! It was raining on us while we were driving up Hwy 40 but it stopped by the time we got to the trail. My buddy Ryan and I drove up to scout the camping spot. We've turned around once we got up above the timberline (at the creek crossing).
We've ended up setting camp at a spot about two miles up from the trailhead and were joined by two more friends. The night around the campfire was great, had a good time getting drunk The next day, Ryan and I have jumped in my RS and decided to make it all the way to the pass and down the other side to the mine. There was snow at the pass, saw a guy skiing too.
We've ended up at the Bobtail Mine at the bottom, and I took some pics of the RS in front of a big orange storage building.
We've then headed back up the way we came. The trail is fairly easy although I wouldn't recommend it for anything lower than my RS, mostly due to the stream crossing. Also, the other side gets a bit steep and rocky for a normal passenger vehicles. Going back to the pass I've decided to see what the RS could do and just kept my foot down. I was able to get it up to about 40 (and keep it there) about a mile before the pass. It was cool, flying up the narrow shelf road (the stretch is quite open as far as oncoming traffic goes), we've had a blast!
On the way back, I've decided to try some "technical stuff" and found a rock to pose on:
