Hey guys,
Great site here. I am a new subaru owner...an old brat. My wifes, grandmother gave it to me today. I have no idea of the year or really anything about it. It would turn over with a good battery, but never would catch. It has been sitting for several years now, so this could be several things. One of her sons told me that the rear end mounts were bad, it kind of made me nervous. My intent is to make a sportsmans vehicle for fishing and hunting travel. Any help or comments is appreciated.
thanks, Logan

Welcome wolfking15

You get a lot of help here on ORS!!! If you can post photos of the brat and parts of it It will be a lot easer for others to help you. You could take the vin # to A dealer or BMV and find out what year it is.

Welcome Logan. I would pull the plugs first and inspect - but if it's been sitting for so long it could be any number of things; does it have fuel; is the fuel filter OK or is it gummed up; fuel pump working; throttle working; check the dizzy. You'll need to change the oil. Good luck with it.

Howdy and :welcome:wolfking15!!!

Sounds like a project.:) Like Kevin said spark plug inspect, but also check the spark plug wires, mice love to eat them. I think what Kevin means by the "dizzy" would be the distributor cap and rotor. Perhaps try and drain all the old fuel out and start with fresh fuel and a new filter.

Just start cleaning and inspecting, make sure there are no unresolvable safety issues, they love to rust, get it to where you know it runs then start working on the rest.

Pics would be great, and you also should up date your profile to include your location.:iconwink: I assume your in the states since it's a BRAT and not a Brumby. Good luck and have fun with it.
