From what I can ascertain Osram Rallye 65W are the brightest available Halogen bulbs with same life expectancy of standard bulbs.
Does anyone know where they are available in AUS? (Preferably Melb.)

Potential GROUP BUY Osram Rallye +65watt low beam bulbs

Based on:
1/. the info in this link https://www.danielsternlighting.com/home.html ;
2/. user feedback on a number of other web sites, including Subaruoutback.org; and
3/. not being able to identify a local source,

I am thinking about importing some of these low beam bulbs from the USA.
As it appears that there is little / no difference in cost for postage for multiple pairs over just a couple of bulbs, are there any forum members who would be interested in a 'group buy'? :discomonkey:

These bulbs are at least as bright as the so-called 'white' / 'blue' bulbs, but with a service life as long as OEM.
As I can attest, the other bulbs which promise extra light burn out within 9 months.

No interest in a group buy?

No one interested in a group buy of these bulbs?

Have found a shipping source https://www.forwardit.us/ that will help reduce the freight charge, so will probably be purchacing soon, once I finalise a few other things that I want.

did you get these yet?
just the other week, driving the country backroads at night and was thinking
my lights are a bit dim - still the originals so should be replacing them.
So saw this thread...
shopping from CandlePower Inc, would be $USD59
Haven't looked at whats available locally yet and $......

also seen referral to Phillips Xtreme Power 60/55W H4, could be another option.

Hello Fredsub,

Haven't brought any in yet.
The advantage of the Osram's is that they have more light but no reduction in life, compared to standard.
Don't know how the life of the Phillips compares.

Nothing beats HIDs!As i have them in my Liberty behind projectors. Worth upgrade.

But if you have standard headlights with HIDs, forget it. If you have Gen 3 Liberty/Outback you still can buy OEM Headlight that are HIDs built in, I know a mate who has it and hasnt looked back as well.

I did look at Osram 65w globes and I would like to try get them as well for my wifes car.
Cheers

OK,
So who is up for a group buy?
Should be considerable savings in bringing in multiple sets for the same shipping costs?

I have a pair of these for around $30 delivered from a UK ebay seller
don't buy them in Oz as they cost up to $85

Have had them for a few months and so far so good

group buy? yes
but it still needs forwarding postage cost - me NSW
so "considerable savings" ?, please quantify....

and and, if import package has significant value, it can likely be hit with gst, customs etc. a few $100 gets through no trouble a few times for me....., got hit once 2years back.

I have brought in parts several times without any trouble. Likewise with e-bay purchases.

From what I can ascertain the air mail cost is no more for up to about 8 pairs of bulbs as it is for 1. However, there would obviously be the cost for forwarding to you, as you say. It was about $40 US from memory, so would be good if a few of us could split that.

The real issue is that I simply haven't been able to find them here, although they were apparently available here at one time. Therefore, import seems the only option.

US 1st Class International Postage $USD15 - though you might need to wait...
and wait....

tried the cheap postage, got em last month, actually took 2weeks

work well.
huge improvement in light, BUT the previous ones probably original 12yr old so not really a good comparison.
