Patrols are taking over!! :(

Looks nice and clean. The 4.5's go pretty well too, just use truck loads of fuel.

fuel won't be any worse than the terracan
especially since the trol is on gas

You'll love it and all it's capable of doing. Just beware... there's so much more it can do that it'll take so much more hunting to find a real challenge for it. Like you, I've traded up to a Patrol (mine's a GQ) but it's been fitted with every mod you would ever want to have the money to fit (thanks to the previous owner having waaaay too much dosh to throw at it) so it does everything too easy. I have to hunt high and low to get the same thrill I got with the Subie on much more tame tracks. Still... I've got a cheapie little car to get me to and fro work to offset the bills - forget the fuel bills being the biggest running cost... mine's a 4.2 turbo intercooled diesel so you'd think the economy is ok... wrong! Fuel economy is ok but wait until you have to do an oil change! I'm sure your 4.5 petrol will be about the same as mine in that there's over 10Litres of engine oil, 2 oil filters, plus air filter, plus fuel filter, plus front and rear diff oils, plus gearbox and transfer case oils, plus a bit of grease here and there... holy moly! They need more regular replacements than on the old Subie too! Try buying 33" tyres for less than $300 a pop and you're on the way to the mental asylum like me:lol:

Yep... wouldn't change it for all the middle eastern oil wells either :lildevil:

thanx guys yeah I'll be stickin' 'round

Eden my wife & I were considering an 80 series cruiser but the Patrol was a lot cheaper

Thanx Damo
I sure am stickin' 'round
I still love soobies

Hey subalex, just done the same thing with a GU IV, and like u kept the subie. and as they say with 4wd's you feel like pelican. Everywhere you look there's a bill in front of you :-)

 - that's a good one.. will have to remember that... just never repeat that in front of wife :lildevil:

hmm... can't say that I'll definitely be keeping the Subie though. Mine's for sale at the moment on Carsales.com It's amazing where I'm getting calls from.. Qld, SA, WA, ACT... even got a call from a guy from my home town, Lismore, of all places 8 hours away! It's enough to make me think again about selling this one if I'm going to miss it that bad that I'd drive one home from the other side of the country to get a good one again.

I'm like that with the GQ Patrol already... I couldn't dream of getting another one setup the way this one is, Pelican or not
