Well we went up to Imbil state forest on the weekend only one other person from this forum was there  we had 6 cars all up
There was some great 4wding what a weekend, we saw the H6 Forester on it's maiden off road drive what a beast

Some of the tracks where a bit overgrown with lantana with all the rain we have had  nothing a bit of polish won't fix tho, Most of the group where new to these types of tracks but they had a ball

There was 3 Subarus 1 range rover (and it didn't breakdown:poke:;)) 1 Surf and 1 Jumny

This place lived up to it's name with heaps of steep hills see the video
plenty of chat at the camp i didn't take many pics or video, here is a taste

Thats a nice hill climb in the video.
Looks like the Forry picked up a "hitch-hiker" along the way too. (twig & leaves in the door at about the 16sec mark) :poke:

Thanks for the comments

There was only 2 of us left so we went and did some more exploring and found this waterfall by one of the tracks it would be great for a summer dip at lunchtime
Yes the balloon was loud but it didn't stop someone from getting up;)

I had a look on the gps and saw that we traveled 1300m and dropped 575m down in that 1300m we had three flat spots a couple 100m each i don't think i want to know the % of the decent

I got home ok, there was a bit of a vibe though. I put it down to the lack of roll pin in the outer joint... originally.

I'm starting to think that all the front wheelspin and skull dragging over rocky outcrops has busted a front also. It feels a little shaky in the wheel.

And it sounds/feels like a busted gearbox mount to. I'm hearing a clunk on startup and shut down.

First, when I get of these crazy hours, I'll wash it down for better inspection and swap a spare shaft in.

...and the rear right is on the way out too. I'm thinking that I might spring for 4 new driveshafts off ebay. They're about $100 each. Doesn't seem to bad compared to paying half that for sweaty, gritty shafts from the wreckers.

A great trip lead from Jan also, thanks again :thumbs up:

(This isn't a thread hyjack, simply a contribution to post trip report ;) )

Just to let people know what you mean by (I'm starting to think that all the front wheelspin and skull dragging over rocky outcrops has busted a front also) he was going up a steep long hill got a bit light on the left rear wheel at high rpm and when it got traction again bang goes the left rear cv cup.
It split the cv cup and put a hole in it the brand new mud tyres wouldn't of helped much ether, So he had to be towed through the rest of the track past the harder bits in the dark. I think he would have lost a couple of thousand kms spinning wheels
You did a good job getting up there

I wouldn't buy the $100 shafts there not to good there made in china they won't last
Go to a cv shop and get them to make up a set from second hand shafts tell them that you want them for crossing the desert, I got a set made up for my liberty i got over 12 months out of them before splitting a boot, Only took them out last week lasted 2 years mine were from a 2wd car i was told they are much larger (front only)

Your right gearbox mount is possibly broken you could have lost lead on the wheel sending the wheel out of balance and exhaust could be knocking on start and stop

Hope you can make it on the Gatton night run

Looks like it was an awesome trip!!! Video is great and I love the balloon pics, you'll certainly have to go back to that swimming hole.:)

Heya guys,

Sorry I havnt chimed in earlier. Work and all that jazz.....

That sure was a sweet trip... Yeah that lantana was a little irritating but I was due for some paint work anyways and new I could sorta ignore it. The trails were sweet. The camping spot is easily in my top 5 for "close to civilisation" style camping spots. The hot air balloon was a tad noisy but so sureal.

My fav part is the bridging of the that spot we like to call "Jan's Hole". When you gotta get through you gotta get through :raz:

Lookin fwd to the next outing. I'm still keen to get a Rover Park or Landcruiser Park trip on though :poke:

I drove the road from Tenterfield to Lismore the other day. Holy moly that is a fantastic road. Had the 'boss' asleep next to me so it was a really good time to keep it goin but as smooth as possible. Try it sometime :iconwink:
Anyhoo, I digress.... The drive to Rover Park alone is fun... after that crapful strip from the Byron turn-off to Lismore.... Roadworks galore.... We actually did down the coast via Port Mac, Syd then into to Goulburn then home inland via Bathurst, Tamworth, Tenterfield and the Lismore/Bangalow way. About 2500kms. There was a solid smattering of offroad and sweet gravel along the way with some old friends we needed to catch up with.
Again I digress.

Rover Park some time guys....???

Oh... I havnt forgotten about that sump guard mate.... Gimme a call and I'll give you the details... You can pretty much pickup anytime you like :iconwink:

Cya at the next S4CQ meeting Jan... maybe speak sooner.

P.S. Jan... I did your mudflap mod on the rear... sweet old man :bananatoast:
