The clutch finally let go in Project Pearl last Saturday. We have 96000kms on the clock. I have a mechanic mate of mine replacing it over the last 3 days for $850 and I will pick it up tomorrow. Just what we needed a week before our wedding! Went bloody quickly too. The missus was approaching a roundabout, changed down to 2nd, and put the foot down to a slipping clutch, no warning at all. I knew that it was getting a bit ordinary (bit smelly from hard starts and some very slight slippage doing hard beach work - like snatching out mates in their bogged cars). At least it is done now. Been an expensive couple of weeks for Pearl. Just last week put new 2 new inner front driveshaft boots on and replaced the mid-section of the exhaust ($200 and $80 respectively- Thanks Northgate Goodyear and Rob Bliss Exhausts). Hopefully no big bills now 'til the 100,000km timing belt change.....
