The local 4x4 club that I'm a member of headed out to the hills yesterday to do a fairly challenging trail (Left Hand Canyon). Lisa had to work and my mom was watching Anna, so I've decided to steal Lisa's car and tried to catch up with the club. I got up there 2 hours after they did and made it up the trail about two miles (the "easier" part) before deciding to turn around part way up the switchbacks on Fireman's Hill. I have walked up the remainder of the switchbacks but decided not to try them as I was running out of time (i had to go pick up the girls). I would have likely needed at least a spotter to get up a couple of the spots, but it didn't look impossible. It's incredible how much more offroad capable this cars are with proper tires and rear bar delete. Granted, it could use another inch or two of clearance, but still... I did with no scrapes or damage!! It's too bad I didn't go all the way up as I was looking forward to seeing everyones' faces when I showed up, but I had fun regardless. Turned out that the group had a breakdown not too far above where I decided to turn around (Jeep broke a ball joint) so I wasn't far from them

This took some nerve (taking the picture) as the parking brake was creaking a bit

Btw, I've almost rolled it past that last photo. I took one of the turns a little too wide trying to avoid the ruts, passenger's side up, driver's tires slid into the rut and I almost touched the ground out the window! Glad I have quick reflexes, just powered out of it, but it was close :puke:

Great trip report SubaCool. :) Looks as though you had a fantastic time.
The "teaser" pics are great & the slideshow's even better. :raz:

I agree with Zatticus.
You could make it down and up more than you think.
I know I could have, but as I've said, I didn't want to without a spotter. I wussed out :o Just something about the exposed steep switchbacks that didn't sound appealing without a low range (coming down, no doubt about the climbing ability of the 4EAT) - brakes will hold you until they fail, then you're SOL :raspberry:

Looks like a grand day out!!! That Jeep sure did get broken.:surprised: Glad they were able to make the trail side repairs.
