Mounting CB, other than in-console

I need to mount a DIN Pocket size CB unit, but there is no spare pocket in the 05 Outback.
Ideally I would like to mount it to the drivers side of the trannie tunnel, so I can readily read the display.
To do this it will need to be mounted sufficiently far forward to allow seat movement for 'short' drivers, but far back enough so that it doesn't 'poke' my left leg when braced against the tunnel.
Where have others mounted theirs?
Any suggestions?

Mines the icom 440 with speaker in handset,

mounted under passenger seat with handset cord under middle console, fixed next to left leg under steering wheel... way loud enough.

Thanks paffoh,
As this is a combined GPS, I need to be able to see the display. Have just been for a run in the car to think it through, and recon I'll mount it on the passenger side of the tunnel - see the pic in the first post of 'what did you do to your car today'. (That looks to be on 'our' drivers side, but is actually left hand drive.)
Barry.

HI Barry, I mounted mine on the drivers side of the center console using Velcro with a sticky backing, can be removed with out marking the car and stopped me from turning the front demister on with my knee every time I drove the car.

Great idea Fabes.

Any chance of a pic, so I can see where precisely worked for you?

From your comment about the demister I surmise that you have an auto?

My 'oldtimers' moment ...

Sorry mate,

I should've remembered that!

Good to see you still on the site. I trust all well, and that you will be back in a Subi soon.

I just put some double sided tape under the cb mount and put on the storage box thing on the dashboard...

CD Radio in 'sunglasses pocket' ...

How about where this bloke has put his standard radio?

Would seem like a nice spot for the GPS CB radio to fit.

Would need to remove vent console to disconnect the 'flap' which covers the pocket.

[BTW, interesting that 2005 US spec Outback has 'manual' air conditiioning, etc.]

Just need to work out how to remove the vent unit, so as to remove 'lid flap' without damaging.
Apparently there are 3 tabs.
