If I get a front bar I'd like to off-set the number plate to the drivers side, as can be done with rear plates.

Is this allowable, specifically in Victoria?

The reason I want to do it is so that I can hang a water bag from the central lower bar.

Hi Barry,

My disclaimer: I could be completely wrong with what I'm about to say! I don't see there being a problem with having an off-set number plate, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIIIs came with their front number plates off-centre. I think i read somewhere a while ago, its alright as long as it's as close as vertical as possible(in NSW), and on the front of the car (i.e. not inside the front windscreen).

Joel

Hi Barry,

In the last few years, one of the small/micro cars had the front plate offset. I think it was the Nissan Micra, or one of the baby Diahatsu's?

They would have had to meet the ADR's.

Beigewagon.
