Im not sure if ill ever do this or not but it just seemed interesting so I thought I would ask. Is it possible with an adaptor kit to take out an ea81 motor an drop in a subaru boxer diesel engine?

I'm sure it will be done very soon. Just a matter of time and someone who's got some money to burn.

It will be a little more involved than just an adaptor plate - wiring/computer/immobiliser stuff will need to be nutted out. Get this wrong and you'll have a real headache trying to work it out! Then there's the physical width of the motor to fit into the MY's engine bay. The old gearbox may not be up to the task of holding all torque from the diesel... so another gearbox will be needed, further complicating things.

Biggest problem I could see is the cost of aquiring a boxer diesel until there are more of them around, even written off subi diesels will cost a bomb for a long time from now...

The race has begun though I'm sure! A diesel brumby would be the go for me

Cheers

Bennie
