G'day all,
I was in the Robe area of SA looking for someone to go 4wd'n with in the Little Dip NP incase I got buried in sand. Unfortunately no one came for the fun, so my fiance and I went it alone. I don't have a lot of sand driving experience but what I learnt from the Goolwa trip in 2008 and the little bit of sand we saw on the last Great Ocean Road trip in November got us through
We enjoyed being able to drive along the beach, apparently there's only one spot you can do this in vic - that's down at Portland and needs to be organised with a club run.
Anyway, I had a ball. My fiance not so much - I covered her in sand a coulpe of times, and she didn't like it when we started to bog down. To be recovered it'd be a minimum $250 fee. Here are some pics:

Long beach, Robe:

The North Beach area in the Little Dip:
One of the views to be had in the area:
You should be able to work this one out:
Lake Side Caravan park - Ruby Scoo and the Camper:
Cape Jaffa Marine Lifestyle development area - worth a look if you can get down there "before they all sell out and build!"
Back in Robe - One of the feature houses of the old town:
Little Dip Beach - to get on this track there was an awesome rock climb, I
thought I was going to scrap the guts outta Ruby Scoo to get up it but
we didn't touch a thing under there At the end of the beach there was another rock climb to get off the sand, it was quite technical and unexpected too. The sand on these beaches was quite soft:
This was the start of an awesome sunset, our last for the trip:
And we swung by Mt Gambier's Blue Lake on the way home - it was an electric blue colour this time, but the photo doesn't do it justice! Last time we were here, April 2008 it was a light aqua/grey colour. This is what it looked like this time:
Can't wait to be back in the area - as always! Just need to get some
stuff sorted (lift... still).
Hope you've enjoyed the pics.
Cheers
Bennie
