I’m really intrigued by this motor.
Too bad we will probably be the last to see it due to SOA’s notorious slow management.

Will be interesting at what kind of response it gets when it arrives here in Australia.

Bring it on I say.

Mr Turbo

well the sooner the better.... suzuki vitara already got one and nissan xtrail about to start... id hold off selling mine if they had this out already, as im guessing the new forester with a chipped up diesel would be pretty nice for towing as long as i didnt get carried away..... damn damn....

Here is a review of the TD.

MotorTrend Review

and there is also some new on the Australian Subaru site

Subaru Australia News

Looks like we won't see the TD Forester for at least 15 months or more:eviltoyou:

I was hoping that I would be here by the time my lease runs out next year.

It looks like it gets a 2000kg tow rating too.

I was hoping to wait till the arrival of the diesel forrester to change my smaller car....it got hit yesterday :shake:

I emailed Subaru Aus last week to find out what their plans are for the Forester and they replied back saying they will have the Outback and Liberty diesels at the Sydney Car Show, and presumably they'll be onsale soon after, or early in the new year. As for the Forester, (from memory) they said no firm plans, and at least 12ish months if they DID introduce it here.

Ok, seems my memory isn't what it used to be.. here's their reply...

Dear Mr Hoad

Thankyou for your email to Feedback Subaru.

We are receiving a lot of customer feedback with regards to alternate
fuel models for the Australian market. At this stage we can only
confirm, our plan on showing a diesel-powered Outback at Sydney Motor
Show in October 2009. We still don't have vehicle specifications or a
firm on-sale date, but the most likely estimate is late 2009.

We appreciate your interest in having a diesel engine model in
Australia, which has been noted to our marketing department for the
information of the factory in Japan. As any new information is
confirmed/made available with the Subaru range of vehicles regarding
alternate fuel models, it will be posted to our website accordingly.

Kind Regards

Danny Basso / Customer Relations

Yeah, reports so far aren't promising.
You would think with all the rivals introducing diesel versions they would be pushing harder to get something here. Reading reviews of the xtrail and others, the Forester sounds like it would be a much better performer.

Suppose they have too much demand from Europe to think about Aus or the US yet.

I know I would have brought a diesel forester at this years Melbourne motor show if they had one, in fact so would have a lot of the people I talked to at the time as well.

At least the Diesel Forester has been announced (Paris AutoShow 2008)

The problem is I am in the market for a new car soon, and with out a diesel in the Subaru family I may be forced to look elsewhere. I am not going to fork out for a petrol car and try and sell it in 4 years time... So hurry up Subaru you are about to loose customers.
