Went to Fraser island over christmas. Took a few photos, but not very many, and unfortunately none of the Forester in action as the missus hates taking photos and vids  Was a good week, we did around 550km on the island during the week, and around 250km worth of inland tracks and 'minor tracks' (infrequently used). Never got stuck during and week and had a ball.

Heres the few photos that were taken.

More pics to come. Cant really remember the names of all the lakes, etc but we seen a lot and need to go back to see the rest.

There were some quite rutted out tracks and climbs up hills over roots that we had to do, however no photographic evidence. My brother in the Navara didnt think i would it a few times along the journey, but never had a problem. Definitely thankful i put the lift in and detached the rear sway bar before i went. Made all the difference.

The big one looking over the bush was Birrabeen, and the busy one with pure white sand was mackenzie. Also went to Lake Wabby (the green one in the dunes) and two more which i cant remember. The rocks two photos up were the Champagne Pools. Went across to Kingfisher as well. The photo looking down from off the cliff was on top of Indian point.
We just camped 1km north of Eli Creek.

Thats about all i can remember for names. Beautiful trip, would recommend to anyone.

Looks great and sounds like you had a ball. We went to Stockton for the day over the Christmas break and drove from the Shipwreck end (Stockton) all the way up to Anna Bay. We can thank the AT/S Geo's for not getting stuck anywhere but my standard plastic sumpguard became another statistic (Really need to invest in a metal one)

^ yeah, that's one of the small ones

Such a unique and beautiful place. Glad to hear you enjoyed it and the XT performed well.

Which ferry did you take? I used the River Head to Kingfisher ferry back in '06, but I believe the beach landings that some of the other ones use can be quite soft.

I went across on one of the ferries that leave from inskip (rainbow beach). It can be a little soft but with the forester so light and good belly clearance its not really a problem. I could literally just idle through the soft stuff or give it some pedal and get through just as easy.
Its great fun going up the beach, cause it one of the few places a forester can outperform of landcruiser or patrol. There was a few times when the bigger 4x4s were churning through the soft stuff in low range, and i would drive up beside them then fang it off. Auto helps too...
While most people of would have a giggle when i went past, there were quite a few interested people in the forester, asking some genuine questions. I was warned about the condition of the inland tracks before i went - but doing 550km in a week on sand and not getting stuck says it all.
