G;day lads,

Can someone explain what the 'HOLD' button in the centre console is used for in the SF auto Forester's? I've been told by some that it is like a "lock AWD" but only for lower (1st and 2nd) gears....

Having used it only twice to conduct a water crossing and cut a lap over some sand, I didn't notice much difference with it on or off....

Cheers,

Aitcho.

I don't know about the Forrie in particular, but HOLD buttons generally are pressed when you want to stay in a particular gear. i.e, the the box will not automatically change gears like it normally would.

Thanks mate,

That would make sense. Seems pretty pointless on an auto box that you can manually select the gear you want anyway. A little part of me wanted it to be an AWD lock considering how the ratio of FWD to AWD jumps from 50:50 to 90:10. Would've been more handy in that respect.

I will look at that thread of the AWD mod that i have seen on here somewhere.

Cheers,

Aitcho.

Thanks Kevin,

Those links are the best description for the bloody thing I've ever seen. Even the user manual in the Foz doesn't give you a good understanding.

Armed with this knowledge, the car will be able to do some things I always wanted to do.

Cheers,

Aitcho.
