Now that I have the camper trailer I need to run heavy 2 wires - live and return -to the rear to charge the 150ah battery in the trailer, and also to run the fridge in the back of the car. (Will also fit a Hella socket for the fridge.)
There is provision for a cigarette socket in the rear LHS side pocket of my 05 Outback, however mine is un-wired, does anyone know the route for this wire, as I thought I'd use the same route for my wire.

Also, any suggestions as to where these wires should be attached at the fuse box? There seem to be spare fuse connectors under the bonnet / hood.

^ if its the same as the Foz then they probably run inside the sill. For my 2nd battery I've run a heavy + cable from the controller in the engine bay to the 2nd battery; there is no fuse involved.

my '98 OBW has the 12V to the rear accessories going thru a separate relay.
Found this relay just left of the steering column, attached to the steel tube crossmember.
HArd to see, but easy to feel for it:iconwink:
i think the wire is good enough for 10amps.

the wire appears to go rearwoods in the same loom of wires for tail lights etc.

since there is already a relay, and power via the relay is direct from battery
(ie not from ACC) i'm doing a mod to allow switching it on without key in igition, BUT also including a low volt protection circuit. i want to be able to use maybe 20% capacity of the starter battery, may as well since its a big one.

you say yours is un-wired, for a later model OBW ????
any wire to the plug ?
if there is, maybe just some fault so no power there, you could check looking for that relay?

Thanks for that info Fred,
I don't have the plug at all, just the plastic blank it would mount to.
Am going to fit a hella / merit plug there. I will check if there is a spot on the loom, as you described.
I presume there is an attachment on the loom, as the rear plug was an accessory which could be specified on order, and hence wouldv'e plugged into the loom.

You should run a new dedicated circuit. That rear plug really isnt made for anything heavy. I think its only a ten amp fuse (and that may be high). It is not the only thing on that circuit.

Better safe then sorry.

I intend to run 2 new wires to take 20AMP and fit a merit / hella socket in the blanked off plate. (Mine has neather wires or socket.)
