I know we all love our Subies, and most of us would not part with them. There seams to be a majority of Foresters on the forum, as there was on ORS.com v1. I have no problem with this either, being the first to join Tony W about four years ago when he first bought his MY04.

Now to the point. Who else has an L-Series (EA82) out there? Just curious to know who to converse with over some of those things that are particular to our model.

Not an EA82, but an EA81. People are always telling me to upgrade to an EJ, but I know the history of my motor. Don't want someone elses troubles in my car.:iconwink:

Hows about us former EA-81 owners??? I sure do miss that car, wished I could have kept it.:(

I did do a rear drum to disc brake swap, torsion bar/spring perch (factory) lift, and quite a few off-road adventures.

Good to see a few other 'old girls' out there. These older cars may be slow and underpowered, but are near bullet proof.

i to have one
That now sits at my sisters place with half of it in pieces awaiting a major high body lift in order to get some serious 30 inch tyres underneath it.
I'll post photos once done but it will be a while before it's on the road.

Here's my very much modified l,no ea82 though.
ej22,vtd auto, 4.44 vlsd,lift etc.

Count me in... I'm over working on the old EA82 - oil leaks, stripped threads, not enough go under the right foot... Personal issues I have with the EA.

I thought I'd post a pic of my Ruby Scoo and myself: This was after a 4wd session in the Spring Gully area of Bendigo.

I now have an EJ20 - the day I went to pick this up all the lifters started complaining, it didn't stop til last weekend, two weeks of lifter noise ARGH!!!

Now to source some parts to get this EJ in...

Massive whoring going on, but:

What's with the 50 character's max in the signature thing all about?! That's insanely SMALL!!!

My 2c

Bennie

PS mods, if you'd like to stick this in an off topic thread you've got the green light, sorry for our lazyness. Cheers

Ea81 here

I'm a fan of the old school subes...The new ones just don't get around like the old ones do..(at least in the USA..no lo-range from '94-current).

The fact my '84 hatch drives circles around my '03 outback wagon..
The little beast is shorter and not so wide..I can squeeze in places like a mudrat..:lildevil:

Underpowered? I don't think so . She's all low end torque baby!
If ya need more power get a hotter coil(Accel,MSD w/50,000volts plus) and a Weber 32/36 DGEV carburetor for those big M/T's...

I highly suggest a 5spd swap as the first gear is really low and better MPG over a four speed.

With my outback the EJ25 just screams at 6k and tires spinning due to lack of low range..and the LSD never kickin' in when I need it most..crawling the steeps .
To boot the outbacks 4,070lbs(gear,driver,passenger) is like a "whole lotta rosie" offroad in comparison to the hatches(2,232lbs)"Walk all over you".

Gday all - got a 1989 Touring Wagon here too - did the backroads to cabramurra and back up through the dirt to canberra through 40-50cm of snow in the old girl - never missed a beat and managed to pull a nissan out of the snow to boot.

Getting tired now so on the look-out for a EJ18/20/22 for the girl. got the 14 inch tyres and rims ready and just waiting for the silly season to finish so I can free up some funds...the mini is taking preference at the moment so the daily hack is just hanging in there...
