I had the Hayman Reese towbar pinched off my Foz at work last night, so just a quick heads up to everyone to either lock them or keep them in the boot when not in use

damn people will steal anything these days
I bought a lock recently which also serves a secondary function to lock the car key in the trailer hitch when at the beach

Yeah this has been happening for a long time - none of our vehicles with a hayman reese pin mounted towbars have them installed unless we're using them for this exact reason.

Sorry to hear you were a victim of someone's petty actions.

Cheers

Where did you buy that device Lefty and what did they sting you?

It's a Hayman Reese product bought from Repco for $22 on special, normally around $28.
Repco had another brand for around $50 but I don't see any justification for the extra cost.

Had been thinking of getting one of these locks, but it is a b*tch to fit and remove the pin on the 05 Outback - Much easier on the later versions (eg 08) where the pin is out in the open between the bumper and the tongue.

Of course the degree of difficulty probably also makes it less likely that mine would be 'tea leafed'. However will probably wit a lock anyway.

The reason I keep the tongue on in the city is that it 'encourages' others to give my tail a wide berth in car parks.
