Went up exploring around Mt. Hood today.
Original plan was to take Still Creek Rd. from Rhododendron, Oregon to Trillium Lake but found the gate closed, they just closed it on tuesday the 10.
So we went to Barlow Pass Rd. went pass the snow park parking area about a mile in till we got stuck, got out of that and continued on Hwy 35 looking for places to explore. Bennet Pass was Closed off for the snow park. So went farther down towards Hood River found a few roads to explore a few miles down. Then desided to go back over Mt. Hood towards home and go up Lolo Pass to see how far we could make it, made it all the way up but desided not to go down the other side because it was getting late starting to get dark.
I wish we would have went and checked out Lolo Pass after we found Still Creek Rd. closed and headed down the otherside from the summit out towards Hood River and then back up over Mt.Hood, that would have been a much more full filling day of Exploring to me.
Had a full day of exploring around Mt. Hood, weather was ok mostly raining but no snow fall.

Ok, pictures should be visible now. Added pictures to a photo hosting website and then added them into my original post for all to see.

Enjoy, Chaz

Yeah they close all those roads out behind trillium this time of year. Kind of a bummer but I can only imagine any soob would get stuck pretty promptly out there. Still fun to explore in the summertime though. Hey let me know if you want to get a group together to go exploring out there sometime.

Air Down.....:)

chazmataz, Nice ride....:) did you fab the bumpers..?

When you are running in wet snow in mass depth, air down....

I have gotten up on 7-8 ft of snow and drove way in deeper than I ever thought of going before simply by airing down....

Freaked the Snowmobilers out when I drove my Roo into their camp 18 miles in on a Closed Road....

How big a tire you running on the yota rims..?

I am running 27.5x 9.3 Studded Winter tires right now, Should give me a GREAT foot print aired down....I am taking it out today to run some roads up behind Sisters/Hoo-Doo.....I'll try to post some pics tonite....

Great pics you took,

Great pics you took,

thank you.
normally i do air done but since we we're just going from one road to the next and had freeway driving in between i didn't want to sit there and spend half a day just airing back up. we did finally air down the fronts and my buddy and son bunced on the front which ended up getting us out of the ditch i backed into.

the bumpers we're given to me by a buddy and he had them fabbed to fit the car for me, i wanted them done a little different but they we're free so i can't complain to much. originally they we're off of a full size bronco that he desided he didn't want any more.

i'm running 235/75-15 sxt m/t's without the studs.

yes, please do post up some pics. everybody likes pics.

Great pics there chazmataz:) good to see the l-series with a 5 stud conversion

Do you have an ej engine conversion in it with those wheels you would need the power to get it going.

It's always good when people see a Subaru in a place they think Subies can't go:lildevil:

I always laugh when they say how the F*+k you got here:biggrin:

Yep, i almost goes everywhere. I've followed my buddies with there modified jeeps, yotas and monster full size up trails that surprised the hell out of me and them and have made others mad because they couldn't. :lildevil:

No thats one thing i haven't done yet is the EJ conversion and man it does lack the power but i have been thinking about it really strongly. I need to wait til my finances are better but i'm planning on getting serious about it this summer, i should be financually better off by then and have access to a better place to do the conversion.

I'm actually running 6-lugs, with toyota wheels.

Hey Chaz.. I think I saw you on 26 yesterday morning when I was heading up to Timberline. I had to do a double take as I saw the wagon pass by. My first thought was "cool old school soob" then as it passed by I recognized the basket with the lights. The soob's lookin good! :)
