Well, have dropped the Forester back to stock height, this is the first trip out since I've done that.
Good thing I left the skid plates on, they helped me skate the snow.
A few more inches and it would've been.... interesting to get out at stock height...

We got a late start, didn't get up to the site until about 2pm. Beautiful drive though.
Ground was bare and it had just started snowing when we pulled up.
Didn't really stop snowing all the way through til when we left the next day.

I continue to be very pleased with my studded Winterforce tires. We were plowing through untracked snow the first 3 miles headed home from the campsite, snow was 1/2 way up my fog lamps at times. The tires gripped well and didn't give me any trouble.

We had a family come by in their fullsize ram. Husband and wife were hunters, had brought there two adorable daughters (4 and maybe 6 years old). They were in the area looking for elk. Pulled into our campsite to make sure we were ok. We were, of course, and I offered them some hot cocoa just as we glanced at the ridgeline and saw a 10+ herd of good looking elk. They started to turn around by going down the hill, at which point Karla yelled "why don't you turn around up here??" pointing to a flat spot. The truck had all season tires on it and we weren't looking forward to chaining up to pull him back UP the hill (I always carry full recovery gear). Thankfully the husband took Karla's advice and used the flat spot.

What an incredible area. Can be a bit busy when there's not a bunch of snow, but people are always friendly. It was nice to really be up there alone. Easy to get to and accessible by car when it's not snowy. We've had our motorcycle group up there camping twice as you don't need a 4x4.

And before I end, a HUGE THANK YOU to Subacool for closing my garage door!! Totally forgot to close it on the way out.

Beautiful!!!:bcool: Nice to see some snow. Might as well be summer here in NC, temps pushing 80 this weekend.

Tell me about it. It's almost Thanksgiving and it feels like Spring.

Beautiful playground you have out there Smash. I'd love to make it Colorado one of these days.

Smash81, mate, you have done it again. :discomonkey:

Just finished viewing the slideshow....fantastic :bananatoast:

Hey glad you enjoyed it!! Absolutely can't wait to get back up there. Just picked up a new project that will be eating up Karla's and my weekends for a little bit, I don't expect we'll be camping again until after Christmas. Might be able to squeeze one in though.

Nice pictures. That looks like a beautiful area to bad it burned. But even with the burned trees and the snow it still has its beauty. Is that a Huskey or a Malimute? I use to have a Husky along time ago and man he loved it when snowed and was cold, out running around in it and wanting to play.

Looking forward to pictures of your next outing

Are cougars/mountain lions a problem in your area?

They are in mine.

I have only seen one mountain lion since I've been in Colorado. We have them, but human/dog attacks are rare. Which is good, man it scared the **** out of me when I saw it. They really sneak up on you.

I think it's beautiful burned. It was started by a person (accident), but it's nature's way.

That's actually a husky/malamute mix, his name is kodi. I rescued him 5 years ago, he was 4 years old and had been in 4 homes. It's amazing how people don't research a breed before they buy/rescue one. You have to know what you're getting into with these guys! I grew up with a big male malamute, loved the old guy, just wanted something a little smaller and more energetic. Kodi is perfect. And, at almost 10 years old, quite healthy. His hips are just starting to go.
