hi there,
i'm new to the world of lifting 'cars',other than my old MavXLT shorty, i've been more prone to dropping them !!
i've got a MY00 GT Forester and have been playing around with a few bits and peices over the last couple weeks and am wondering -

whats the maximum angle people have run without CV issues ?
and if possible the maximum lift ? beit by strut blocks or springs or both ?
before running into issues ?

cheers

cool ... where would that put the height of the foz inrelation to say top lip of the rim, or centre of the rim to guard on the front and back ?

cheers

2" (roughly 50mm) lift on a Forester.

nice !!

i shall have pics up of my 'rising' over the weekend ...
well after tomorrows shenanigans anyway ;)

cv angles

I talked to a driveline shop about this . He says 22*/23* is the max. Subarus can handle before breakage.

Suppose you mean 22, 23 degrees (?!?)

If so, that would be around about right for the inboard CVs (diff/transmission side). Outboard (wheel side) CVs can go much higher than that - after all they have to steer the front wheels around.

Any lift (except body lifts) will change the CV working angle, which is usually optimum for wear/durability.

Higher angles will cause the CV spheres to move further up and down the track every revolution of your wheel, so this extra distance will translate in more wear, proportional to the distance. Meaning the higher the lift, the more the spheres/track will wear...

Physical limits for lifts, as far as CV joints are concerned will start to show when the inboard joint pops out of the outer race or the outboard joint reaches such a high angle on steering that the outer race fouls on the shaft.

Bottom line: if you lift it, on average you'll end up loosing some life out of your CVs. But what do we care, hey? Just lift it!

Hope this helps!!
Pedro.

So I'm EXPECTING your foz to be lifted the next time I see it out and about... By the way, we're going out over easter

Cheers
