Ok fellas... so when are we going again?? Hm?

Update...

Details are as follows:

This will be a combined forum trip where both the Subaru and Rec.4WD Club and Ausubaru forums are invited to meet up. Camping trip to Lidsdale State Forest and Mt Airlie over two days in the first week of January. Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6h of Jan. Meet at Lithgow Maccas on the Tuesday at 8:30am. Time for meeting up could be later in the morning to allow anyone from the ACT or further away to join us. Either that or distance travellers could camp nearby on the Monday night.
I'll edit my first post to reflect these details.

Trip rating: Medium - There be a great lot of driving challenges. Water, mud, hill climbs, different surfaces and traction levels to test every type of vehicle. Some lift and All-Terrain tyres would be best but not necessarily ruling out those without.
Basic recovery equipment should be carried (a shovel, two rated bow shackles and a snatch strap). I will bring my hand winch just in case. I'll do a recce the week before to confirm the track conditions.

Trip leader: Subalex (GQ Patrol - extraction vehicle for any Toyotas coming along + 4 kids)
Possible attendees:
Mr Turbo (turbo Forester)
Kevin (slightly kitted out Forester)
Apsilon (shorty NM Pajero)

If you wish to add your name to the trip please hit "reply", copy and paste the list to your message and add your details. Either that or send me a PM and I will update this message.

Cheers,

Was some talk of Canberra, Brindebella area...

Most seemed really interested, free camping etc etc but depends when...

Canberra sounds good. I haven't been out on any of the tracks there other than to see the Canberra Rally back in 2003. That would have to be a camping trip though and that means a full weekend. Paffoh... give us some particulars and I'd be interested in making that one.

For another trip I suggest going to Lidsdale state forest which is just outside Lithgow. I loved that place with the lifted Subaru of mine and others last time I was there and I know Damian remembers well the beautiful creek that is part of the track (your level of enthusiastic driving through this section is COMPLETELY up to you... just slow down if someone is taking... photos... of.. your... car at the time ;-) LOL )

Lidsdale could be a day trip for those near Sydney or we could make both of these trips camping trips to ensure we get both those from the ACT and NSW together. The second day could be a trip to Mt Airley. How about that?

November 28-29? (Sorry Apsilon... hope you can come along after all before Christmas.. I can't wait until after then)

I remember that trip. :raspberry:  Especially that creek crossing.
It was when I tried to turn my Forry into a submarine. :rotfl:

It was the day I decided a snorkel was a must do for my next mod. :p

I'd like to do some tracks around Canberra, I haven't done any around there.

Nov 28/29 I'm out, already going away that weekend (oddly enough near Canberra), but don't let that stop you if that's the best date for the majority.

Same as Apsilon, 28th / 29th out unfortunately...

December 5th or 6th or weekend after...

Im off to Sydney this weekend but next week after work I will plan some recon regarding camping and roads... Somebody told me Mt.Corree was open again! (Now thats a challenge).

Hmm ok, I must admit this clashes with another Subaru club camping weekend anyway so how about the previous weekend of the 21st to 22nd Nov?

Dang, cant do that either... Could always put it off till the new year?

Awesome places to drive, from super easy to ultimate gnarly and everything else...

Probably not for me either. Depending on the destination I might be able to make a day trip but I have a heap of work to do on the car and not much time to do it in.

I pick up my dual battery tray this afternoon so can finally get that underway, As part of that I can finally get the rear accessory sockets installed for the fridge. I've got a snorkel waiting to be installed as well as some new speakers and soundproofing and some rear and front lighting. All before Xmas and have to also fit in work and Xmas shopping etc.

Uh-huh... so that's about oooh... half an hour worth of work with the parts and some gaffer tape to install... what more time do you need?:poke:

I've been attending to my machine a little too.. needed a new sensor for the Pyrometer since the end of it had been hammered against the wheel arch and the wires broke through. I had no idea how the turbo was going when I towed Eden. Then there was the most major project yesterday (;)) sealing the windscreen washer pumps in the bottom of the filler bottle.. darned things had been letting all the water past them and I had to wait for rain a few times lately... major MAJOR headaches.. see? Not.:)

Looking at my calendar it's not looking that much better I admit between one trip with the club and another in the next few weeks. Ok, so let's put our heads together and figure out another weekend. I've been instructed by a higher power that I've got to take at least 4 of the kids on weekend trips (can't always fish them out to their friends) so, while it can still be gnarly stuff it's an invitation for a "kids included" weekend. How about the first weekend in January? Any of you who are like me and are open to any other days in the week at that time? I remember Troy was saying that Saturdays are out for the moment so perhaps a couple of weekdays are better in the first week of Jan?

I can't make the 28th /29th either unfortunately :yell:

That sounds like a good plan to me. :)
I'll be on holidays then with not much planned, so YES, I'd be very interested for early January, either mid week or w-end. :raz:

Fitted the battery tray today. What a PITA. Only 1 of 5 mounting holes lined up without needing to be elongated.

Anyway, I can't make the first weekend of Jan either. I already have plans (including the continued recovery from NYE).

In the interest of planning for a weekend away, post what days WOULD suit you and we'll try to collaborate. As much as I like Damian's company I don't think that just the two of us going in the first week of Jan is quite the spirit of what we're trying to achieve.

Need some help Apsilon? Which suburb do you live in?

Thanks for the offer but I'll be right. Biggest issue is just time. I'm not far from you though, just at Baulkham Hills. There's a fair few of us around this area.

As for a trip it's probably not worth waiting for me. I can possibly do a day trip 12th/13th Dec but for a camp I'm not sure. I'm busy through to Xmas pretty much then after I'm doing a multiday walk with friends but we haven't set the date yet other than being in Jan. We're targetting 16th/17th Jan at this stage but it's still up in the air. Feb I'll be a lot more available.

Thanks to the moderators making this a sticky thread...

I'm trying to negotiate a combined trip with those in the 'Subaru and Recreational 4WD Club of NSW and ACT' as this was a hit last time (thanks to Kevin). I'm putting my hand up to lead a trip out to Lidsdale State Forest and Mt Airlie as a weekend camping trip to allow those from the ACT to join us. Just a matter of agreeing on a date. Trip would be rated medium and be a great lot of driving challenges for Subaru drivers. Water, mud, hill climbs, different surfaces and traction levels to test every type of vehicle. Some lift and All-Terrain tyres would be best but not necessarily ruling out those without.

First week of Jan anyone? I'm off work in that week like many others so this could be a mid-week trip if that's more popular.

Make your suggestion of date and availability by sending me a PM or replying to this thread.

I think mid-week, week 1 Jan would be good. I haven't even planned anything yet so can't absolutely commit. No doubt my son Adrian would be up for it in his new Wrangler - assuming he gets it back from the dealer in time!

I'm happy & available to make it any time from the 2nd to the 17th of Jan. :discomonkey:
So any time between these dates suits me. :raz:

Regards
Mr Turbo

Turns out I might actually be able to make the first week of Jan if it's mid week. I wasn't taking any leave over XMas/NY but they're hounding me to reduce my outstanding leave so I might take that week off.

Not definite yet but I'll keep an eye on it and see what I can do once a date for the camp is set.
