MY03 Towbar Help

I have just been a cheapskate and purchased a towbar removed from a MY00 Forester with the intention of fitting it to my 03.

I had read 98-08 towbars would fit but the vapour cannister & bracket seems to get in the way on my car.

Does anyone know anyway around this or do I have to cut the towbar R/H bracing to fit around. Obviously I'm not keen to do this.

I have a proper Subaru towbar on my 05 and the canister still had to be moved so there's no difference.
From memory you had to remove one of the brackets that the canister bolts onto and I simply cable tied the canister to the towbar. Hopefully someone else will have a proper solution

Ha ha, that is funny, I was thinking of cable tieing it but I shook the thought out of my head as it seems to be my fix for everything these days.

I am now thinking of using a longer bolt and a spacer sleeve to allow it to sit lower or fitting a bracket to towbar frame which the vapour cannister bracket could attach to but it would let it clear towbar.
