I had heard that you can swap outback struts and springs into a legacy and get a little lift is this true and if so will in negatively affect the driveline??
Given that Legacy & OB are the same car, yes, you could do that. As to getting lift, I'm not sure. You would need to lift a reasonable amount before considering any driveline issues. Currently I have 40mm lift blocks all round with raised springs +30mm in the rear and +10mm front.
outback struts will give you a lift over the stock legacy parts. the outbacks use spacers to space the subframe down to keep the driveline angles in check but you can lift without the spacers and still stay within factory alignment specs with no problems.
I would like to do something similar with my car (I have a Liberty Wagon '96, so it's the previous (2nd) generation):
I wanted to give it a lift by putting raised King Springs in.
Now the problem is, that the product cataloger of King Springs doesn't list raised springs for my model, but for the Outback of the same generation. Has anyone experience with that and knows to which extend the suspension parts are interchangeable for that 2nd generation (as it is for the 3rd gen) e.g. would it be possible to fit the Outback springs to the Liberty, or would I need the Outback struts as well?
Primitive Rally carries the king springs. I'm not sure exactly what they keep in stock but they're one of the only places that carry them in the states.
- raised springs (King Springs, to suite Outback BG9)
- ECB Type 8 bullbar (Also originaly made for Outback BG9)
Fitting the bullbar wasn't to easy, as the front bumper is slightly different, but with a bit of cutting it's possible.
All in all it got me a lift of 8 cm, which corresponds to a ground clearance of 26 cm (ground to lowest point of frame)!
Now I'm currious how well it will do on the beach,
