When i went to the local subi dealer for a price on a set of spark plugs i nearly died!.$27.90 each!geniune.so i had a look in the glovebox manual and found they were only ngk.so down to repco.$5.20each what a relief!.whats the differince?.can anyone tell me.for a 2000 outback.2.5 ltr manual.replys to patrick.
Many thanks pat:)

The difference probably is that you got normal spark plugs, which do not last as long. Platinum plugs can last 50,000km's in a turbo engine, and I thing from memory 100,000km in a non turbo. Your plugs will most likely need replacing in 10,000km's. Factor in labour and the hassle and the other plugs aren't such bad value.

If you are buying plugs, oil etc check manufacturers websites first. This way you know what they recomend for your car and from there you can check prices. $27 is bloody outrageous but not that untypical of car dealers.
After using NGK IridiumIX plugs i would never use a STD plug. I think i paid about $20 each for them but they would easy have paid for themselves in better economy. Check out the NGK site and get some proper plugs!!!:ebiggrin::ebiggrin:
