That pic is a rippa

However, what's that hanging off your towbar ?

Please say you're not recovering someone with a snatch strap thats attached that way. :shake:

Go to a towbar shop, but shop around if you can.
Expect to pay around $350 to $400, maybe more in WA.
I fitted one myself to my MY03, it's not that hard.
Check out the Hayman Reece site - www.haymanreece.com.au
You can search for a stockist in Perth and the model you want is the 1910.
Try not to pay RRP. Drive a bargain. They are great towbars.

when i was living in Jacksonville Fl. a guy i knew was telling me his buddy was killed trying to snatch another out of a bog. when the tow ball broke it went thru the front window and you can imagine what happened next. that tow hook is really cool

Is there anything wrong with pulling the tonge out of the hayman reece and putting the pin through the end of the snatch strap?

was probably using a chain... straps absorb the energy and dont snap back nearly as hard with a break... chains stretch, then snap like a rubberband when something breaks

2jz929... nope, nothing wrong with using the locating pin through the eye of a snatch strap other than that it might bend (very little chance especially with light cars like Subarus) and if it bends you have major problems getting the pin back out again.

Removing the tow ball from the hitch makes it easy to fit a big bow-shackle and that's the best recovery point anyway. The locating pin is still in use (as it is in Eden's example) but the pin has the support of the tongue in more than one way.
